Desde 1988 hasta 1998, la Producción Agrícola Nacional, apenas se incrementó en 8%. Pasó de 15 millones 915 mil 235 toneladas (t), a 17 millones 160 mil 577 toneladas (t) de alimentos.

A partir de 1998, cuando llega la Revolución Bolivariana y se ponen en práctica políticas de reactivación de la producción agrícola, de los 17 millones 160 mil 577 t de alimentos que se producían, en el año 98, pasamos a 24 millones 686 mil 18 t, en el año 2010; es decir que, hubo un incremento del 44%.
